  1. I burnt my first VCD but it won't play on my DVD player; when on my computer it opens as a DAT file, when i thought it was supposed to be in MPEG disc, I used NERO 5.5, so how do I get it to a MPEG disc so it will play on my DVD home player

  2. What program did you use to encode it with? did you strip the audio to a wav file? what kind of file did you start with ( a dvd, avi, asf,)? and what program did you use to burn it?

If you have a disc with a DAT file on it, then you likely created the VCD correctly - it's your player thats the problem. It either doesn't like VCDs or doesn't like the media you used.

A DAT file is nothing but a Mpeg with extra header info. (Use VCDGear to convert DAT to Mpeg)

  8. indyj,

Don't forget we are not mind readers so if you don't tell us
step by step what you did to create the cd, what methods and
settings you used in encoding, the media recorded to using what software and the make of your DVD player, we can only make guesses that
are wild, tend to misbehave and are not house trained. 8)
