Do any of you out there in Cyberworld have a Canon GL2 DV camera? If so, what capture card are you using? I've attempted to contact Pinnacle and Canon, but the consensus is, "has not been tested, no guaranteed". If any of you know if that camera (replaced the GL1) works with Pinnacles products, please drop a response.
I'm hoping to purchase the Pinnacle Pro-ONE and HP200i, to turn those home movies into family DVDs.
Thanks mucho... good help is SO hard to find!

I just purchased a GL2 (love it big time) and an ADS Pyro Digital firewire card for around $60. Works like a charm, no problems at all. I'm using Pinnacle Studio for cap/editing. I'm not dead set on that program yet, I'm still experimenting, but it works fine with that and Ulead Video Studio, and Ulead Movie Maker.

Thanks Grey Hair, appreciate the response. I was hoping to get info back from Canon and Pinnacle as well, but what I got back lacked luster. I can only assume the Pinnacle card will work, being a proven product over the years, and the GL2 being new technology. Ofcourse, assumption is the mother of all ####-ups. Lets swap 'assume' for 'hope'.

ViperOne,
...I'd just like to share my story to you on this matter.
I was looking for a DV card about a year ago, for my GL1. I had a Dazzle DV-Editor SE (very basic card), with Ulead VS4.0. DV transfers for approx 5min footages were great. But problems came in for longer footages (10min and higher). I had AV sync issues. I've tried diff cap softwares, but same problem.
I came across the Pinnacle DV200 card, for about $300, that came with full version of Adobe Premiere (which was the selling point...almost). I was about to get it, but decided to check Pinnacle's forum re. compatibility with camcorders...and guess what, EVERYBODY WITH A CANON GL1 HAD PROBLEMS WITH DV200 (and even DV500), I believe device-control related. Pinnacle was claiming that Canon frequently change the firmware on the GL1, that they cannot cope up...
I considered looking at another manufacturer, specifically CANOPUS. They are maintaining a compatibility list in their website, and there's a special note for GL1, that there were noted AV sync problems with their DV cards and this camcorder, but they've provided a fix, which is just a line that you need to add in the .INI file. Checked their forums, and I didn't find anything that could be a show stopper. I decided to buy the EZDV card...and probably the best buy I made.
I know the DV500 DVD is different to DV500, and that you're talking about the GL2 (which is NOT a GL1)...but then, considering the volume of problems seen in the Pinnacle forum... you be the judge.
my 2cents.
