I have had no problems converting DIVX to MPEG but when I play the SVCD on my DVD player or Windows the time seems incorrect, the DIVX was 50 mins and the MPEG says 40 mins. Yet when I watch it all 50 mins is playing, anything I am doing wrong here.....

hmm, well, you're not... But, i think you are burning in NERO... And i seem to have the same problem, only my time that is played is 2 Times less than the time there is actually on the CD(eg: the DVD player says i have 1H of film on the SVCD, but i actually have 30 mins of film, but it does play 30 mins) You're not doing anything wrong there... it's just somthing strange
