My first experience of this drive is almost leading to frustration, I am having problems
rewriting to the Phillips DVD+RW disk after writing to it once. I am using nero 5.99, I have tried erasing this disk but get error message “illegal medium” managed to get a new phillips rw disk from the shop, copied a file to it and ejected it from my drive, all was ok, placed it back in, tried to erase it got error “illegal medium” I have tried not only Nero but also Instant vob/dvd 6.5. Could my problem be the dvd writer itself.. The drive seems to have problems writing to dvd+rw more than once.
Any advice would be helpful.

Well, I suspect your drive is faulty. I've got the same model but no problems at all.
cheers

I agree with lmichiel.
I have the 228K and have had no problems erasing and re-erasing Philips, Infiniti, and Memorex brand +RW discs.
The Infiniti +RW is great value media.
