  1. I've just bought a portable CD player with CD/MP3/VCD playback but I've hooked it up and I can't get any video? I'm getting the menu screen when there's no disk in the player, and I get audio when I play a disk so I know all my connections are ok, but no video. I've also tried a few different disks though they're all VCD TV Rips.

    Any ideas?

  3. Most portable VCD players are very fussy about what VCD's they'll actually play. Try a commercial release and see if that plays. If it doesn't, then you have a faulty unit.

The one I used to use (Napa) would only work if the mains adaptor was connected. With just the batteries - nothing.

Yes, I figured it out to be something similar. This one is branded Mercury and it looks like you have to remove the batteries for there to be enough current to play a VCD. Perhaps it's too much for the mains adapter to be charging as well as supplying power?

    Thanks everyone anyway.
