  1. This is what happened,I capture some movies from my satellite feed onto my 100 GB HD,and like most people encode them and burn them...so to make it easy to find all i did was to make some folders to put them in but now any un-encoded movies that i didn't do yet and even movies that i already did give me this error when i open them with media player9 >
Error ID = 0x80070005, Condition ID = 0x00000000 > Now i can't play them in anything at all ! It will not let me move them out of the folder or anything....Please any ideas...

  2. Could be either a problem with your HD, which we won't hope or your codecs got trashed somehow.

I guess you have tried to reboot your machine and then access one of the files, tried to copy it, or so? If so, what did Explorer say?

Also try using a different player, like IrfanView or any other. Irfan gives out a less cryptic error message when something doesn't work because of codec problems. But if you can't even access the files properly, I would say a HD check/repair/defrag is called for.

  3. I think the codecs are ok because other mpegs encoded play fine,if i try to copy, change the name or anything all i get is access denied. Just a few days ago i did a defrag and also today i did a error check and everything seems fine...well no errors anyway. I just used IrfanView and i got a error of "can't read file header ! Unknown file format." Think its a HD problem?? Thanks

  4. It might be your window media player version 9. It has been know to create more problem than older version. Try to re-install and install older version if you can.

  5. Could it be you're using Windows XP? If so, look quickly in this forum for a thread dealing with file access problems under XP.

I had assumed that the files you can't access are AVIs though and so does the solution in this other thread. Try it out anyway. Otherwise I can't offer any further clues, I'm afraid.

  6. ya_jai thats what i thought at first and wanted to do a un-install but i can't find a way to,i wanted to go back to 7.1 but couldn 't fine a way to even looked on MS media player page and darkobserver i have been running XP without any problems, this is the second time i had this problem and i'm thinking its the HD..The files are mpegs when i capture them,i use the best setting in the ATI capture setting. All the files were working fine the other day till i just moved them into their own folders and that should not cause a problem,Thanks,I think i'll give maxtor a call..
