  1. Dear all, this is my first post, so please forgive me if it is the wrong place.

I'm triying to Convert to VCD the Movie Monsters Inc. Which It is 520Mb.

With Tmpgenc, even if I change the bit rate for Video or for Audio, the file size at the end of the processing is always 940MB. I'm triying to use a bit rate such as 750 just to use only one CD. I have also tried to separate audio & video but the result is the same. I have tried several combinations but no variation in the final file size even when the system is indicating that the final size will be i.e. 650Mb!!!

    Some Ideas tips, & tricks??

    Thanx in advance,
    SALUDOX

A VCD at 750 kbps CBR wont look that good. I'd suggest dont go below 900 (but that's a matter of taste).
Actually, this 940MB mpeg would fit on a 99 min, but try a KVCD template - that ought to cram Monsters Inc onto a regular 80 min CD. Keep in mind, that you, as a rule of thumb, can squeeze 800 MB worth of MPEG onto a 80 min CD-R (740 MB on a 74 min, 900 MB on a 90 min...)

  3. Thanks, Mat. But Still a question, why tmpgenc does not reduce the file size when I am applying a very low bit rate (500!) or for instance, the outputted file sizes the same either with 1150 or 950 (Both CBR).

Also I have found KVCD template, but The Easy Cd says that this is not compatible format for VCD

    That's really a mystery
why tmpgenc does not reduce the file size when I am applying a very low bit rate (500!)
but then again, it's also a mystery that Easy CD doesn't complain about that mpeg! That makes me believe that no matter what, the mpeg is encoded to VCD standard.
What template (if any) are you using in TMPGEnc?
Try authoring/burning your XVCD with VCDEasy/CDRDAO instead, which allows you to compile non standard (as well as standard compliant) VCD's.

  5. Mats, pardon my jumping in, but I wanted to add that Nero has also no problems burning non-standard CDs.

And since you seem knowledgeable, would you mind looking at my posting in this forum about the VBV buffer? Maybe you can give me a hint, so far no one else has...

    Thanks!
