I am not able to open any file captured from my DV camcorder. I have tried capturing using Studio 8 and also with Ulead Videostudio 6. Vdub complains:
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)"
then goes on to explain that it cannot open files created with directshow based codecs, only VFW.
So, is there any VFW codec available to handle these files? Vdub never recognizes my IEEE 1394 port, so I can't capture with it, but is there another way to capture from my camcorder that will be compatible with Vdub?

If you have WinXP then you don't have Video For Windows support by default. I solved the same problem by using the codec from an old copy of Studio DV. Other's said they had success with the Panasonic codec. Search the forums for dvsd or Panasonic for the link.
