PLEASE HELP

hi, i rented a movie from blockbuster and i ripped it and the rip is good, now i want to make it into a divx, so i use dvdx 2.0. i tried to follow the guide under dvd rip but it doesn't work right. when i try to make my movie into the divx the movie finishes, but the encoding isn't done, so when i play the movie the sound and video is off, and i had audio/video sync on, but it still is off. it glitches and it throws everything off, and i noticed this usually happens with movies made by colombia pictures. so if u know how to fix this problem please help, and i could also use step by step instructions on how to make a good divx that WORKS. Thank u.
