I have just downloaded an avi file in MS-MPEG4 V3 format..... I was just wondering if anyone knows how to convert this file to MPEG1 (VCD format)...... I have already tried using TMPGEnc and all that comes out is a black screen with audio..... and I've used this program to convert divxMPEG4 files to VCD format and they worked out just fine..... I even downloaded the latest version of TMPGEnc and it still won't work....... anyone have any suggestions?

I am sorry what do you mean "What template did you use?"

I have tried burning a VCD with Nero and DiskJuggaler with this file, and have made other VCD's and SVCD's without to much problem with other none MS-MPEG4 V3 files.

First, read the Newbie Guides. Then, Load TMPGEnc. Cancel the wizard if it appears.

As a video input, select your video file.

Select Load and the VCD template. Then select Start.

Burn the resultant file with your favorite authoring software.

  6. You should try turning up the directshow multimedia in tmpegnc to at least 3 or higher. So that you can see the movie in the preview window. I had this same problem to and this fix the problem for me. And to get to the directshow multimedia . Click on options, then environmental settings, then click on the vfapi tab and you should see directshow multimedia right click it and hit higher priority.
