  1. I used SmartRipper a couple of times on my dvd-rom drive and after that the drive stoped reading other data except dvds(and those had chopy sounds). I just bought that dvd drive a month and a half ago so i doubt it went bad so fast. Does any of you guys know if SmartRipper tends to kill DVD-rom drives or did my drive just decide to die?

    Lots of people use SmartRipper and have no such problems. DVD ripping does tend to put wear on a drive faster than other use, but it sounds like you just got a bad drive.
