  1. If you take a photo with the camera on it's edge how do you go about making sure the picture is not stretched to full screen when creating a vcd photobook? I plan to scan all my images in, resize them in photoshop and clean them up and then save them back as bitmaps to load in to vcd toolbox - i do not want to use tmpgenc or anything else to do this...

I am aware that a normal photo (pal) needs to be resized to 91.6% (width) and then the canvas increased to 704*576 but what are the settings for 'vertical' pictures???

    Any advice appreciated

    cheers

  2. zed,

Here's how I convert a "portrait" picture to "landscape" using NTSC. Should work for PAL.

Starting with a 1760x1168 jpeg portrait shot from my digital camera, I rotate it 90 degrees. Then I resize it to 352x480. I cut the entire picture, create a new JPEG canvas with the dimensions 704x480, then paste, center, and save the image onto the new canvas.

You'll have empty space on the sides, but the aspect ratio should be correct.

  3. Hmm,

My portrait pics are 1625x2381 and I have tried doing what you say and resizing it to 352x288 (pal) before pasting it on a canvas of 704x576 and it looks far too small and when you zoom in it goes all pixely - any ideas... just need to get these right and my project will be finished!!

    Cheers
