    there are many guys advertising that one can rip a dvd back to SVCD or vcd without buying a dvd drive, but using the vcd copy drive.

    what programs will alow that to happen

    This is not possible. The only thing that can even read a dvd is a dvdrom or dvd burner. You cannot rip a dvd with a cdrom.
