  1. I want to change the bitrate on a mpeg2 file to make it slightly smaller.

What is the best program to do this.

TMPEG does not change it when loading the mpg file and then reencode with changed bitrate.
My only way so far is to reencode to avi (divx) and then use TMPEG with lower bitrate.

Anyone knows of a program that can convert mpg to mpg with a different bitrate???

TMPGEnc will chage the bitrate just fine ...

like I said. When I enter the vid in the main window and change the bitrate in the settings, nothing happens. the size and the bitrate stay the same...

  5. You can use a custom template to set any bit rate you want in TMPGenc. If the selection is greyed out then load the unlock template on top of the DVD template & then you can change to your hearts content.

  6. try rempeg2, it is a utility to lower bitrates. tmpgenc will give you
a better output though. Change the tmpgenc bitrate settings AFTER you have
    loaded the source video.
