Ahh yes, my favorite DVD player.Sorry i just luv this player, the friggin thing plays everything! :P
Anyways, the first time i saw this player it was at Blockbuster video for $99. The day i went to go purchase it, they were sold out. I decided to shop around a couple of stores and found it in Best Buy for the same price. If you check the DVD players section on here, most people are buying this player at either Blockbuster or Best Buy. I don't know why you can't find it though?
By the way, i live in NYC. Maybe it's just your area....? -
Thanks for the Blockbuster tip!
Maybe it IS my area as I can't find it at Best Buy (I'm In Nashville , TN).

After alot of reading here I've pretty much decided this is my next player, is there a macro hack for it? Thanks

This player is the same as the DVD724. Check out the hack for that one.

I just bought my Magnavox MD450SL2 at Blockbuster. It is also on the wal-mart web site as a new item. www.wal-mart.com I tried my local wal-mart but they did not have it, but Blockbuster did. Good Luck in finding it.

When I try to go to www.magnavox.com I'm taken to Philips site again with no magnavox DVD players listed at all nor any mention of Magnavox. Pretty unprofessional and disturbing. Makes me wonder if they support their products or not.
If the Magnavox MDV450 is the same as the Philips DVD 724 why is the 724 so much more expensive?

The 724 is a progressive scan model and I don't think it plays as many different disc features as the MDV450. Phillips owns magnavox. I was able to get the manual for the MDV450 by going to the support page and typing in MDV450. Phillips is slowly phasing out the Magnavox name. They still support Magnavox products, to the best of my knowledge.
Good luck in finding the MDV450, Blockbuster and Wal-Mart seem to be the best places. -
When I indicated that the Philips DVD724 and the Magnavox MDV450 were the same model, I was referring to the region hack only, not the general features.
As harold_smith8 pointed out, one can download manuals from the Philips website. The manual for the MDV450 looks the same as the 724 except for the lack of PS capability. I reckon the latter will play SVCD, MP3 and Photo CD just as well as the 724 -
I have seen several Magnavox MD450 floating around E-Bay for around $80 brand new. One strange thing I did notice about the warrenty. For the 1st 90 days they will give you a free direct exchange, after 90 up to a year I think they will give you a pro-rated exchange of the DVD player. BTW, there are a few times in the manual that they refer to it as a Phillips DVD player.
I believe Phillips is one of the first members of the Divx Alliance or whatever they call it at www.divx.com Who knows, we may see Phillips DVD players with Divx capability soon. Good Luck in finding this DVD player, they are out there but you just have to look hard.
