  1. I have been a Windows users for a number of years. In order to watch DVD movies when I'm on a trip, I've ripped my DVDs to my Notebook PC's hard drive (using Smartripper). I then have plain VOB files available to watch while on the road without worrying if I had brought the DVD or not. I know, I know, these are huge files etc. but with 80 GB on my hard drive, that is not an issue. I simply ripped a few of my DVD collections to the hard drive and away I go. No fussing about with DivX etc. I play the VOB files using PowerDVD.

Recently I bought an iBook and have been trying in vain to play these same VOB files but QT does not open the files, nor does DVD Player. Can anybody help me on this? Thanks!

I really prefer not to muck around with codecs, DivX 3ivx etc. Just rip a DVD to hard drive and play it from there.

    Go to homeoage.mac.com/rnc/

Click on the "links and other tools" section.

Find "Video Lan Client or VLC"

Download it for Mac os X

  3. You'll probably be dissapointed with both of the aformentioned options because neither of them take advantage of the MPEG-2 decoder on the video card.
