I have a short video clip I'd like to make into a VCD. The clip is an AVI file. It plays fine in the Windows Media Player.

When I used TMPGEnc to convert it to a compliant MPEG1, it didn't convert the video (it was black).

So, I thought I'd open it in QuickTime to convert it to another format, THEN use TMPGEnc to encode it. But QuickTime won't play the video (it was white).

I then realized it was originally compressed with MPEG4. QuickTime doesn't seem to play this type of codec.

I tried opening it in Premiere 6 and After Effects 4 to reconvert it to a non-MPEG4 movie so it'd open in TMPGEnc, but neither program will play the video.

The only program that'll open and convert is Media Cleaner Pro 5. But that conversion is a long process in that program.

So I ask this: how can I convert this MPEG4 to a VCD-compliant MPEG1 easily?

    Thanks.

  2. Hi,
Try to encode the file in Panasonic Encoder.I think it will solve the problem.

Right after I posted that original topic, I tried the Panasonic Encoder. It seems to hang at "Initializing...".
I eventually had to end the task, as it stopped responding.
