I have used Smartripper with mixed results. Before i could get ripping speeds over 8x now i am getting ripping speeds of 1.2x. I have not changed my setup on Windows XP Pro, but for some reason it can't get over 1.2x speed even though it is an 16 x Toshiba DVD drive. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Even thou you said that you haven't changed anything double check that DMA is enabled for the drive and make sure that the disc (and tray) are clean.

Do you know off hand where I would go to check that in Win XP? Because I know in Win 98 it would be in Device Manager. But in XP it is not showing up or I am just blind. Thanks

Some of the Toshiba drive will not rip at more than 2x with
encrypted dvds. Mine will only rip faster if it is a unencrypted
dvd. -
