You want a 700mb file ...or you have a 700mb file...If its for a VCD and you have a 700mb file...burn it to one disc and your done. You wern't to clear bout mpg..avi...mov???

To split files or re-encode files with a lower bitrate (thats the way to make em smaller) use TMPGenc.. Use its mpeg tools last tab ..under cut or join. Changing bitrate will create a non-standard VCD....but you can use TMPG to do whatever rate you want..

  3. i have around 12 movies, all around 700 or so mb...and i just bought a dvd player that plays vcds... and i know a standard 74 minute cdr will only hold 60 to 70 minutes of a mpeg file... which some of my movies are in divx format....but i just wanted to know how to convert a 1hr and 20 minute movie down to (2) 60 minute parts.......thanks...

Standard 74min (650mb) will hold a 725mb (+\-) mpg1 movie (in VCD format) irregaurdless of movie length...I use standard 80min (700mb)CDR's and shoot to make all my movies 770 to 780mb mpg1 files. Think my longest movie so far on 1 cdr is 135 min.

But other than that u have two options...SPLIT file. (tmpg >file>mpeg tools>cut and join)....or REENCODE .. (tmpg with a unlocked template (see tools section here) or unlock your own and choose lower bitrate)

  5. You can actually burn as much as you want on 1 CD-R. Just go to http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/84759.php and it tells you how.

  6. For the above ^ . Start at the TMPGEnc part and forget the CladDVD part. My longest movies on 1 cd are Cast Away, Pearl Harbour, and The Green Mile. They are all DivX/DVD Rips by the way. a little bit of video quality loss though. By the way, you can fit 800/750MB on a 700/650 MB CD in VCD Format.
