I have just acquired a camcorder Sony pc101 and a Dazzle pci capture card with ULead video editing software. My pc is a 700MHz pentium II with 512 Mb RAM. I have succesfully captured a few clips and tried to edit them but I am getting a slightly jerky picture and v-e-r-y s-l-o-w sound. How do I know which of the available project templates I should use (AVI and MPEG 1 selections with different frame sizes and frames per second) ? What else might I be doing wrong ?
Many thanks for your help !

Is this dazzle a firewire capture. If not then that is your main problem. Why would you want to use a capture card with a camcorder. You need to capture with firewire 1394.
-
yes it is firewire. The card plus Ulead VideoStudio came with the firewire as a package.
Grateful for any advice you can offer -
I use Videostudio 6 with firewire and a Sony DV camcorder. Are you shutting off all the programs running in the background(virus/firewall)? Are you using 98/ME/or XP? If you are capturing DV, use the proper project setting. Are you playing back in VideoStudio or Media Player?

you probably got an older version of videostudeo. I had no luck with these. Videostudio 6 works good for me. I got p3 800.

videostudio 4.0. playing back in videostudio. windows 98Se.
I didn't realise you need to shut down the anti-virus, why is that ?
