Hello, i encoded a file named a knights tale which is a dvd rip when i play the mpeg format it has no sound but the avi file does why is this am i doing something wrong please help as i need to format my pc for windows xp thanks

So let me get this straight. you ripped the dvd to vob files? and then got the avi file how? dvd2avi? and then convert to mpeg1 w/ tmpgenc?

with your computer specs i dont see how you do this? it would take all day and your HD is pretty small.

I guess you downloaded the AVI ?
That’s a great movie, hope you get it sorted.
When you convert the AVI in TMPGEnc, just try a little at a time (Click stop) make sure your output is working correctly. You don’t want to spend all that time for nothing.

Make sure you have the audio codec's, load the AVI into Vdub and select file > file properties

Then check what codec's you have Audio > full processing mode > compression Is the codec there?

In TMPGEnc
Select options > environmental settings
click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4

cheers king john :d me sorted it now oh plus i have a new comp now 1200mhz 512mb ram plus a 60gig HD that goes out to SLBOSS926 i did download the avi of kazaa lite

Well congrats on the new system i too was in the dark ages until about 2 months ago. i had a 366mhz w/ a 3 gb hd and 96 ram hahaha.
