  1. Hi Folks
I have a problem if it has been asked before please direct me to the thread. I have an avi file that encodes to mpeg for vcd burn no problem but with no sound output using Tempeng 2.5. The original avi did not play sound. I downloaded Nimo 5.0 codec pack and the avi played the sound. When I attempted to run Tempeng 2.5 to re-encode the avi an error occured saying the avi was unsupported. Infact every avi I try to convert to vcd comes up with the same error. When I did a system restore in winxp I was back to square one. Avi no sound Tempeng ok.
By the way only the odd avi is affected with the no sound problem.
Your help you ever you's are would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Malcolm.

    See if this helps

    Select options > environmental settings
    click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4

Installing Nimo, could overwrite existing codec's of different types, DivX 5.02 in Nimo also has spywear.

Open the AVI in Vdub and select file > file information
See if you get unknown on anything, or if you see the codec's, take a look to see if you have them installed.

Quite a lot of people have had problems with Nimo and DivX 3.11 Alpha (And DivX Audio)

The settings above was for TMPGEnc, Vdub is used to check the AVI before you use TMPGEnc

    TMPGEnc
    Select options > environmental settings
    click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4
