  1. Any of you knows how to ativate the option "Output to AVI/Movie file" in the playback preferences?

Another question. The 5.0 version of SSA is already finished?

    Thanks

On his site he's got version 4.03:
    http://www.eswat.demon.co.uk/substation.html

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by outputing to .avi but I've been doing a fair bit of adding subtitles to movies lately. You don't do it directly through SSA. Basically you need to use SSA to make your scripts and time them. To add the subtitles you need virtualdub or a variant (nandub or something like that) as well as the subtitle filter. There's an explanation on doing that here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/subsvirtual.htm

Now if you've got a timed script you're pretty set. If not then SSA is really well equiped. Just use virtualdub to create a .wav file (8 bit sound) from the .avi you're gonna sub. Then using .ssa you can time your script to your .wav. It takes a while but you can get very accurate timing.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need to know more.

  3. Thabks Chpp,

But i've already done my subtitles, but i want to output the result to an avi file.
In order to you understand better this is the problem:
    1. I want to make my own Karaokes, i have the wav.
    2. With virtualdub and the filter the karaoke feature does not work (the highligth of each word at the time of sing)
    3. I want to have the preview run in the SSA in an avi file to use this file as video and then mux with my audio file with TMPenc. (In this case my video only will be the subtitles working with backround music)

If you know any other tool or trick for do this please let me know.

    Thanks everybody.

Hm... well maybe there's a way to capture the screen. I know there are programs so that you can capture what's playing in a window for example. People used to use this to convert .rm files before tinran or whatever came out. You could theoretically use this while playing your .ssa file to capture to video. Not sure what this program is called though or where you can get it.

  5. Hey guys, am trying to create karaoke with Substation Alpha. I have a hardtime getting the timing right.

I imported the wave file and can play that just fine in SSA. But the syncing part, I can't seem to get the "lead time" to play correctly. What settings are you using? and if you can get me steps of how you do yours would be great.

Say you have a song, how would you create the karaoke part? Please list the steps for me.

    TIPS for you:

You can use genlock device taking the output and then input into another's computer video capture card and record that with software like premier 6.0. You now have karaoke clips. Then you put this avi file into another track of premier. I am still experimenting with this.

    Thanks,
