Will it work if I set up TMPGen to save to converted Mpeg directly to the CDR drive rather than the hard drive?

saving it as a data file you mean !, well it should, but in practice it would probable not
try it out with a CDR-W are you using direct CD or something ? I think that needs the file to be copied, have you run out of room ?

Depending on the file size your writing to the disc and the time it takes to convert thru TMPGEnc you'd more than likely burn up the drive long before it finished. Just think of it this way, the whole time it's writing to the disc the laser diode is going to be active and generating more and more heat. I don't think it's possible to maintain a sustained burn like that without burning up the diode. You can try it, but don't say you weren't warned.Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack
