  1. Ok no laughing guys....I'd like to be able to do DVD to VCD on this
old Pentium Pro 233mhz machine. I've got all the time it needs(yes i'd like a faster machine but has to wait)
lots of good guides on here and Smart ripper works fine. The problem is it seems all the next step programs require a machine with MMX....FlaskMPEG the older version seemed to be working and doing an encode using BBmpeg i think it's called but it wouldn't play with Windows media player nor my DVD player software that will play mpeg files normally. Help! Is this just impossible? thanks... Schwinn

  2. I think the 'smart rip-dvd2avi-tmpgenc' is the best way to go. try that and see what you come up with. also, how much hard drive space do you have free?

  3. I get the illegal action message that Microsoft is so fond of using for every thing that goes wrong. I jsut tried a fresh installed copy. Same as before no go. I for some reason think/thought this and everything I've tried needs a mmx cpu! Am I wrong?

May be bro, try turning off all MMX stuff in TMPGEnc and see if it runs. Will be slooooow, but you already expect that, right?

    Good luck!

  5. Thanks for replying. Smartrippper works fine!
TMPGEnc & panasonic encoders both work fine apox 12 hours to make a VCD could be worst!
The part i'm, missing is DVD to something the encoders can use! They all seem to need MMX....
