  1. Hello All

When I try to encode avi files into mpeg-1 it all goes well until it reaches 99% then I get a program error. Does anyone know why this happens or what I can do to remedy it?

I have adjusted the (Direct Show Multimedia reader) to priority 1 because it wasn't recognising the avi files to begin with, so I was wondering if that might have something to do with it?

Anyways, all help would be greatly appreciated. Take care ya all.

  2. I had a similar problem with an AVI where the audio was shorter then video.
I used SOURCE RANGE to cut the last portion of both and it worked.

    Hope it helps.

Don't worry about it, so long as you have all the conversion done. This happens quite a lot of times with lots of people. At 99% its fine, nothing much wrong with the source, maybe a glitch at the end.

But if it happens at any other time (95%), there could be junk in the original, scan with Vdub for junk frames.

I think you should start a new post, your errors may not be the same.

However, load into Vdub and scan the AVI for junk frames, as I have mentioned above. Seach my posts for further info

I don't mean to steal the post, but in Vdub, after you scan for bad frames, what then? I don't know how to remove them, or even locate them for that matter? Can't find any guides. It's frustrating after 60% encoding to find this out. Especially when I'm doing a frameserve from Vdub (pretty slow).

    Thanx!!!!!!

You don’t do anything with them !

After the scan, Vdub now knows where the bad frames are, so if you save out another copy using streaming, it will save the AVI "Without the bad frames"

    Video > direct stream copy
    Audio > direct stream copy

SAVE AVI (Movie 2.AVI) This saves without the junk frames it found.

You could use the old "Vdub MP3" (see my posts) to scan, and delete them manually if you wanted to, or at times with the new Version wont scan.
