Baldrick, great guide on the VCD/CDDA hybrid disk. I tried a couple of these with Fireburner and they worked awesome, however, I cant help but think if I could make one more data session (i.e, CDROM) at the end of the disk, I would have a format that plays everywhere. How can I go about doing that. I tried keeping the session open on the cd to add data tracks but fireburner doesnt seem very good at that. Any Ideas....You are the definitive expert!

    Thx. in advance.

  2. You do realise of course that you can add files to the VCD filesystem?

You can do this with VCDImager via the XML system (or to simplify things greatly, use VCDEasy as a GUI).

Another data session is not necessary and probably won't work.

as vitualis says can you easy add standard data files with VCDEasy when you make the bin/cue. Add the mpg(s) as usual and click iso files and create a new folder and put your files there.

I tried to add some jpg but they were in conflict with each other. Any ideas on this. I was trying to save the cover work on the SVCD itself.

  5. VCDImager at the moment limits the filesystem to ISO Level 1 (i.e., 8.3 filename, 32 character path limit, sub-folder level limit of 8 ).

Thus, if you have long filenames, VCDImager will crop it to 8.3 (but not in an entirely intellegent way)...

For example, if you have two files named:
    my_picture1.jpg
    my_picture2.jpg

They both end up being --> my_pictu.jpg

Thus, two files with the same filename.

The trick at the moment is to make sure that your source files are limited to 8.3 filenames.

Future versions of VCDImager may relax the filesystem to ISO Level2 but for the moment, you will have to live with this limitation unfortunately.

    Regards.

  7. Just on question about this kind of compilation: (S)VCD + CD-ROM on one disc. I was trying to make this kind of disc using VCDEasy and everything seems to be OK with one exception: CD-ROM Autorun files change during compilation and they won't work as expected, i.e. you cannot run movie on the PC using Autorun. If I'm not wrong the reason for it is that ISO system does not accept my autorun filenames written normally (lower cases vs. upper, special fonts, etc.) and written differently (as ISO likes) they don't work at all!
So, my question to the expert is: how do I overcome this problem and burn the disc working both on standalone players and PC with autorun enabled.

  8. You probably just wrote your autorun.inf file incorrectly.

It definitely works on a S/VCD (for example, the Official VCDHelp.com Demo VCD has an autorun.inf file and it autoruns just fine -- it loads up an HTML file on the disc using your default web browser).

I can tell you that your "ISO" theory is definitely wrong. For example, I'm pretty sure that the Windows installation CDs are in ISO Level 1 and they autorun...

  9. Michael,
    thanks for reply.
I definitely need to look at the DemoVCD file structure ...
