  1. Hi,

I'm a retired software engineer. I interest video processing after I retired. I like to develop a freeware for playing back VCD, SVCD, DVD, XVCD, XSVCD, etc. I have develop a small program that can play various video file. For playing VCD, etc., I need to understand the file structure and content of VCD, SVCD, DVD, etc. For example, the starting clip, menu clips, menu items, entry point of other clips, etc. Has any one know how to get these informations for developing play back software?

    Thanks,

  2. A free dvd player would be great but you would have to pay a royalty
to the MPEG-2 consortium. Here's a good place to start:

  3. I click the VCD and SVCD at the left of the web page, I find the VCD (SVCD) file / folder structure and brief description of files inside these folders. For developing software purpose, I need the detail description about these files, mainly the definition of records in these files, the definition and type of fields in these record. Does any one know how to get these definitions?

    Thanks,
