  1. I was sent a BIN and a CUE file of a movie, but I'm having trouble burning it to work as a SVCD.

I tried loading up the CUE in Nero 5.5, and burning, but it told me the file was 1612MB, or 159+ minutes. I opened the .cue in NotePad, and found two tracks. The first:

    FILE "MOVIE.bin" BINARY
    TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
    FLAGS DCP
    INDEX 01 00:00:00

    ...and the second:

    TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
    FLAGS DCP
    INDEX 00 00:04:00
    INDEX 01 00:06:00
    INDEX 02 00:06:01
    INDEX 03 00:23:69
    INDEX 04 02:36:38
    INDEX 05 06:38:57
    INDEX 06 10:37:40
    INDEX 07 16:12:44
    INDEX 08 22:30:20
    INDEX 09 36:25:24
    INDEX 10 42:14:26
    INDEX 11 49:40:46
    INDEX 12 52:48:19
    INDEX 13 56:46:29
    INDEX 14 58:26:17
    INDEX 15 60:40:53
    INDEX 16 64:34:24
    INDEX 17 66:26:04
    INDEX 18 68:59:65
    INDEX 19 71:06:60
    INDEX 20 73:17:34
    INDEX 21 76:16:36

I realized it was trying to burn the video twice on the same CD, so I shortened it to just the first Track. I burned the CD, no problem. I popped it in 3 different DVD players, as well as trying to play it on my computer's VCD player; no dice.

Okay, I try deleting the first track and using the second, figuring maybe the time indexes are important? Burns fine, but same thing happens when I try to play it.

Last try, I extract the files from the .bin and burn them in SVCD format using the SVCD template provided by Nero. Once again, it doesn't work.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I may want to try? It is rather frustrating, and I'm downloading two other VCDs in the same format right now, and I would prefer to save myself a few hours of transfer time if its a lost cause.

I'm available on AIM at xBrent6969 or on ICQ at 64130940. Thanks for reading, and I'll appreciate any help.

Are you using something like Isobuster to do this? What do you get when you extract from the bin? And using Nero, at what point does it not work?

  4. Well I tried everything on those pages, and nothing worked.

Anyone want to drop me a line and talk me through this one on one?

  5. Your version of NERO is too old!

Don't go deleting tracks in the CUE file. You need both of them. The first one is where the filesystem resides and from the look of it, the second one is where the actual movie is.

Don't extract the MPEG file unless you have to as it appears from the CUEsheet that this S/VCD has PBC content authored (specifically, chapters!).

To burn it, use CDRDAO with VCDEasy. Make sure you install ForceASPI if VCDEasy says that your ASPI layer "isn't valid". You can download VCDEasy from: http://www.vcdeasy.org

You can get ForceASPI from: http://www.doom9.org

    Or, you could try CDRWin.

Or, you could update to the newest version of Nero (5.5.9.x)

Or, you could use Daemon-Tools to mount your CUE/BIN image as a virtual CD and then use CloneCD to burn the physical disc.

Some of these programs can be found here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/tools.htm

I don't believe that you've actually tried everything on those pages because if you did, it would imply that your CD burner wasn't working properly. Again, try VCDEasy + CDRDAO +/- ForceASPI first. If that doesn't work, try CDRWin or update to the newest version of Nero.

  6. my problem was solved by upgrading to Nero 5599. Initially, It doesnot recognize my hp 8200e. I copied the old wnisapi32.dll over, everything worked!

One problem with VCDEASY is that you cannot save your work, exit, and load it again? there is no option to load the xml. so once you exit, you have to manually edit the xml file, use the vcdimager to generate the CUE/BIN, and use Nero or CDRWIN to burn it. Can you burn a BIN with VCDEASY?

  7. You can't load a project from an XML file so if you are considering makiing changes, leave VCDEasy open!

You can use VCDEasy to build a CUE/BIN image from an XML file.

You can also use VCDEasy to burn a CUE/BIN image to CD. These are under the "Tools" section.
