I d'led 2 files encoded with Xvid and they play in slow motion under WMP 6.4 and 8.0 (under Windows XP). My goal is to reencode to VCD. So I loaded into Virtualdub and the audio info says :

    Sample rate: 48000 Hz
    # of channels: 5
    Compression: unknown (tag2000)
    preload skew: 28000 samples.

I've done some research here and come up with no clues as to what to do although I haven't even tried to load into tmpgenc yet since I assume it will also not work.

Any one have a clue on what to do here?

    Thanx, synchron.

  2. I'm in the same boat. The avi's play in slow mo in media player. I also want to convert to vcd but tmpgenc won't recognise the sound.
In vdub if I save out as wave tmpgenc still won't have it.
I installed xvid codec but it males no difference.
Anyone any idea what to do?

Well, in researching this further, someone said to bump up the priority of the Directshow filter in the Environmental settings of tmpgenc (make it like priority +2 instead of -1) so I tried that and it recognizes the audio. However, after doing a sample, the audio in the resulting MPG comes out too distorted. This maybe because of the speed of my PC so maybe you can try it, BlackPope, and give us your results.

    Thx, synchron.

  5. Sounds to me like its a Xvid with AC3 ... try download AC3 filters and play it in wmp6.4 .. wmpxp (wmp8) doesnt seem to handle AC3 that well so it lags and goes slowly... hopes it helps... btw AC3 filters could be found on http://doom9.org

  7. Synchron and Blackpope,

XVid plays slow motion on my WMP8, but plays perfect on Power DVD and divx player 2.0 alpha. I have put AC3 through WMP8 before with no probs, so I don't think it's an AC3 prob. I simply play XViD's in Power DVD and I don't worry about Media Player. I was able to encode XViD with AC3 sound using Virtual Dub, then HeadAc3he for my audio and I used 0 KEWL's "XViD-AVI->MPeG the easy way" guide for the proper settings in TMPGEnc and it was perfect, not a problem.

  8. If you have a semi-recent XviD codec, then it's probably an AC3 thing then. XviD codecs change a lot, you can try to download a newer one maybe. I never had problems watching/encoding XviD, mind you, I never used WMP.
