  1. have been trying to use SpuceUP to author a DVD-R....
I have been transcoding with TMPGenc vcd and svcd, trying both 320x240 MPEG1 and MPEG2 CBR rates at 1.8Mbps and audio MPEG 48KS/s 192kbs...
they load into SpruceUP fine and I can edit and set chapters...it sims fine...but when I go to burn, immedaitely at the end of the compile progress bar reaching 99%, it always crashes giving me a cannot read video file error....

    it shouldn't be this hard!!!

I've read all the guides on VCD and SVCD to DVD....and tried all the approaches....

    Help! thanks!
PS I have tried to use MyDVD also, but since it uses PCM audio only, you can't put much on a 4.7GB disk! very counterproductive!!

I think that your problem is the resolutions you are using are not DVD complient. I've use Spruceup a lot, and I have never had any problems with it (but I always fed it DVD resolution files). Your problem also could be that you are trying to burn from within the program. Try creating a TITLE SET and using another program to burn your DVD.

  3. thanks but:
    1) I have the same problem when I use TMPGenc to recode MPEG1 or 2 file to thier builtin DVD templates....
    2) I never get to the burn stage...it croaks during the intial compile during the export phase with an "Error reading video input file"...
again I can simulate these 100% all the way thru the files...

I have found that if I use very short DVD transcoded MPEGs...ie 5min instead of 48min, it seems to work fine...just when I put full length videos in...

this is NOT a resource problem...my computer is P4 2.4GHz 512MB memory machine with 120GB free disk space!

am going to try ULEAD next...maybe it will work...I won't use DVDIT or MYDVD since it won't use compressed audio, just PCM! what a waste of space!

  4. Have the exact same problem. Source files were taken from VHS using Pinnacle Studio. Converted using Tmpgenc to mpg @ 3000 bitrate. Initially I was trying to fit two large mpgs onto the DVD but had the video error msg from SpruceUp so I re-encoded at a lower bitrate (was originally 4000 bitrate) Had success at the lower bitrate, made some new movies also at 3000 and these ones then failed. Used the same template in Tmpgenc so nothing had changed. It does not seem to be a consistent problem. Have no idea what to try next. Have tried MyDVD and DVDit and they both suck. Am running out of options here. Are the any other worthwhile programs to write the vobs with. I use Nero to burn the final DVD.
