  1. Hi Guys,
    I recently downloaded a file which I was lead to beilve was encoded using Divx5. However I have said codec as well as 3 & 4 installed and I cannot view this file.

    Windows Media players complains about the file is not supported, the DivX 2.0 Alpha Player states it's not a DivX file, and PowerDVD XP 4.0 loads the file, the screen goes smaller to indicate it's about to play it and then does nothing!!

    Can anyone help me please find out how I can determine what type of file this is? If it is at all a movie file.

    load it into virtual dub and under file-->file properties
