I downloaded the following template from KVCD.net
KVCDx2-CQ-704x480-_NTSCFilm_-2CD.mcf
The widescreen problem I was having is fine now but the new problem Im having is the stupid color distortion. But when I fast forward the movie it plays fine but when I play it normally the color is messed up. The sound is fine. Can someone help me ???![]()

I might suggest, the answer is that your player doesn't support what your doing.
-
Then how do I make it accept it ?
Before it was accepting fine until I encoded the movie using the KVCD templates...? -
You can't 'make' it support something it doesn't. If a template doesn't work, use a different template.

Ive tried 2 templates that I need to use. Ive tried changing the GOP Settings to Standard, it didn't work, I tried changing the VBR Buffer settings to 0 from 48, it still didn't work. NOW Im NOT gonna load up the template and try some of the other settings....I will keep you posted when I figure this shit out...Yes I have tried other templates....same affect..

Kwags templates use variable bitrate MPEG1, a lot of DVD players don't like this. The only way to fix it is not to use them!

DivXerouS,
Your player doesn't support VBR. This is not a template issue. It's an MPEG protocol issue in your DVD player. No matter what encoder/tempate you try, it just won't work.

I figured out the problem. The DVD player works fine and so does the template. The problem was with the Pixel setting. The AVI file was origanlly 720 X 368 but the template was encoding it 704 X 480. It apparently wasn't the right setting so I lowered it to 704 X 464, and guess what it worked. YAAAY !...
Now I was gonna ask. The higher the Bitrate the better the picture right, If I encode the movie at 1603Bits/s shouldn't it come out right ? but there are those stupid blocks again. I tried lowering the contrast of the movie because someone told me that and I guess I should lower it a little more, but I was wondering if I could make an 800MB Non Standard Mpeg 2 file instead of Mpeg 1 ???
@ the haters !!!

I'll assume by color distortion you mean bitstream corruption that is throwing random macroblock around?
Mabye you DVD player does not support bitrates over VCD standard 1150? So encoding at VBR will cause the bitrate to sometime fluctuate higher than the player can support. Make sure you MAX bitrate is no higher than 1150 and try again. -
DUDE I don't know what the hell you said but it's fixed now..and I have encoded movies at 1603B/s and they work fine... like it said there was something wrong with the pixelation setting that';s all...I was just asking that the higher the Bitrate the better the picture right...? But it doesn't matter because Im making it an Mpeg 2 format and that usually clears up the stupid blocks that appear in dark areas....
No more help needed....Thanks to all the people that provided the help and gave sugesstions...including you too dude who I don't know what you are talking about...but thanks for trying..
