On the advice of forum users I dowloaded DVD Workshop to get my DVD Ram files to DVDR.

After re-naming the VRO files to VOB, DVD Workshop accepted them. However, it's now been "converting video title for 3 hours and is only 13% done. What the hell is it doing and why is it taking so long?

I have a P4 w 256 RDRam. Am I doing something wrong, or does this program just suck?

  2. sounds like its re-encoding the file. (DVD WS refers to video clips as "titles"). 3 hours for 13% does seem rather slow though.

  3. Are you using DVDWS 1.2? If not, please check the web site:

I don't remember which (trial) version of DVDWS it is but I've kind of given up on it anyway. After taking a ridiculously long time to "encode" my whole system shuts down and restarts. This doesen't happen with any other program.

Furthermore, my DVD Ram drive just, for no apparent reason, stopped reading Ram discs. Discs that it had no problem reading yesterday are no longer being read. I get a message that says: "Invalid directory entry has been encountered. Some content may be lost or inaccessible." Whatever.

I guess my only hope is to spend $200 on a Ram player so I can dub the Ram to DVDR. It really irritates me that I have to buy yet another DVD player.

The only reason I bought a PC burner was so that I could take my edited Ram recordings and burn them to DVDR. Anybody know where to find a cheap Ram player?

  5. My stupid advice: try to convert Your VROs (VOBs) into .mpg.
Warning: I'm totally unfamiliar with RAM!
Your DVDWS trial probably is 1.2, as mine, so it has pretty strange behaviour: You have to give target bitrate (VBR!) higher (highest possible) than Your vid has and *uncheck* "do not convert ...". Yes, uncheck - function is switched.
Anyway, You can guess, what WS is planning to do by looking at HD space needed. If, for creating directory tree, it shows number of aprox. Your video (twice for image file), it will not re-encode, just remux.

    Hope this helps

  7. I hate to be stupid ,but where is this (do not encode) button located. I have looked in all the menus and can't find it. I am having the same problem,it wants to run through every clip I enter and takes quite a while.

    Thanks

  8. This "do not reencode" checkbox is on the burning screen. Right side, ~1/4 from the bottom

  9. Philip, are You sure about NOT reversed. Trial can have it reversed and official not. Also it may depend on something. Mine IS reversed and I have wondered it quite a bit.
