  1. I have an avi that comes with a separate .sub file.What prog do i need to open the sub?Can it be opened with windows media player?

  2. Windows Media Player doesn't like the *.sub files. I believe you can open *.sub files with MicroDVD Player available here:

    Windows Media Player has another format that it likes for subtitles called *.SMI...

    You should be able to convert it with a program like this:

    http://doom9.org/Soft21/Files/Subtitles/sub2sami.zip

    If you convert it properly just give the filename the same name to match your movie! For example: To go with Bean.avi call the newly generated file Bean.smi and put it in the same directory. Select captions in WMP and you should be able to turn them on now!
