Hi there,
i have a strange problem with WMP. I ripped a movie (using DivX 5.02 PRO 1 pass and 192 CBR Lame-MP3 Audio) from DVD.
But when i want to play it with WMP it just shows me "Playing 192 kbit/s", but i see nothing. If i scroll to the end of the movie it shows me a time of 8,5 hours - a little bit too much.
BUT - the funny thing is: when i rip only ONE CHAPTER from the same movie with the SAME settings - WMP can play that file without problems?!
(using DVDx 2.0 to rip the DVD).
What could be the problem here?
regards

Have you tried any other players besides WMP? You also might try a different ripper, there are plenty out there, with loads of information about them on this site. It sounds like the ripper just doesn't like something about the way your DVDROM handles ripping. Sorry I can't be more specific, but them's the breaks
Hope this helps

I see that you are running xp I had the same problem with not been able to play divx rips, try using media player 6.4
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe"
alternatively you can try powerdivx or bsplayer. -
Forgot to mention that other players (Vidomi, PowerDVD) could play this movie..
However - thanks to pimp80, WMP6.4 *indeed* can play this movie! Didn't even think about this, i thought they removed the "old" WMP in XP for sure, so didn't even search for it.
Thanks
