well where do i start, i decided to download the svcd template from the site and burn it to see if my stand alone sanyo dvd player would play, it sort of played in the fact that the picture was perfect but the sound was very choppy and stuttering, i then decided to convert a small avi clip to mpeg2 and try and burn that, i used tmpge to convert it, and then tried using nero to burn a svcd, there were no warning errors from nero and the disc burned ok, tried it in the dvd player and the same thing happended, i then used nero again but this time using the burn image option using bin/cue lists, surprise the same thing again, i looked through the forum and decided to try using vcd easy, burnt to disc and the same thing yet again, perfect picture but stuttering sound, i have tried 3 types of media, and i also dowloaded the trial version of power dvd to see if the mpeg2 file i created was ok, it plays perfect, great picture & great sound, please please please can someone help me with this as i am now out of ideas.

    thanks peter
p.s i dont think its the dvd player as i would have thought that if it cant play svcd's i would get no picture or anything, i have even tried changing the audio set up on the dvd with no luck.

Don't worry abou the error messages I get them too, but it has never affected the quality of my SVCD's.

What model is your DVD player?

I would not call that great support. Although it's listed as SVCD on the main page their is only 1 confirmation and their was no comments. Another listed it as NOT having support.

If the player officialy supports it ( check the manual ) return it, otherwise you may be SOL.

i have done it at last, but there are still a few questions, i made it work by encoding the avi file to mpeg2 using tmpge then i had to demultiplex the file using the mpeg tools in tmpge, i then used bbmg(or somthing like that) to remultiplex the file back together, and then i burnt the file using easy vcd, i just wanted to know why i had to convert to mpeg2 and then split the file & then join them back up agian, any ideas????

    thanks for everyones help

Stop using TMPGenc, and start using CCE (Cinemacraft MPEG encoder). I had the same problem with my Nintaus 9901 - now playes perfect, when encoded with CCE, and muxed with bbmpeg.
