It's just an option (for those who *do* have DVD burners) - why is this a problem?

  3. thanks for the help. its not a problem (i dont think) but why would ddcc be grayed out and not dvd burner (i dont have a dvd burner) i thought that would be grayed out as well. the only problem is do i have the right version of nero. i guess it doesnt matter right? as long as i can goto to the menu and burn vcd, cd etc.... and not use the wizard.

There is an option in Nero to choose *Image recorder* instead of your writer. So you can in fact burn to DVD - as an image file. Although it won't be much use to you.

Yes, you do have the right version of Nero. There is an option in Nero to tell it not to display unsupported formats, but as banjazzer mentioned, you could (or might want to) create images in those formats and it certainly doesn't hurt having them available.

In case you haven't found it yet, it's on the Expert Features tab of the preferences. I'm an options/features nut, so I like to see *everything* I will be able to do, even before I have/had all the right hardware.
