  1. I am trying to convert this SVCD to VCD, but it TMPGEnc gives an 'unsupported file error'. Virtualdub says 'Illegal Mpeg file'. I managed to get it to play in WMP last night (it wont play anymore! , and the video codec was
    'Morgan Stream', or something. Whatever it is it wont open. Ive tried everything and every codec (Nimo, etc).. It does open up on WInDVD but just at a title screen... Anyone know what to do here?

    SVCD will not load into Vdub, there is no support.

    Install Power DVD 4, this is 1 of 3 codecs that will ork with TMPGEnc Plus...

    There may be a conflict with other mpeg 2 codecs on your system, you are using TMPGEnc Plus 2.58 ?

    If your using the free one, you need TMPGEnc 2.55 <

    Hi, No you need an older free version or the new Plus, try the older ones before you work on any codec removal. V 2.55 I think was when things changed.

  8. What exactly is missing from the current version? Do you know why Im having problems with this particular mpeg?

    What Im trying to do is convert some SVCD's to VCD headers since my brothers DVD player wont play SVCD. Normally I just use simple multiplex, but it just wont read this file..

    You need to read this;

    Note for Specification Change in TMPGEnc Plus 2.57

    [] When opening MPEG file with TMPGEnc Plus
    Because current version of TMPGEnc Plus does not have own MPEG-2 decoder feature, it relies on other MPEG-2 decoders installed onto Windows system through Microsoft DirectShow to read MPEG-2 file.
    So, I think it was 2.55 that they stopped the Mpeg 2 working with any old codec, I think TMPGEnc was blamed many times for problems cause by codec's, so now there is only 3 it supports.

    The new version will work with Power DVD 4 codec (I use this) , but if there are other codec's of the same type it can refuse to work.

    I did forget to ask if you have tried increasing the VFAPI plug-in setting for DirectShow, I always recommend a value of 4
