  1. For the life of me I cannot figure out some stuff even with the Sefy-guide...

#1 the 'chapters' seem to work on my standalone (Mustek 300 series/Classic DVD-102), I can jump to the next chapter in my standalone, but the number of the chapter does not change on the standalone's LED front panel, it always says "1" when it is playing #7 for example....but when I hit '7' on my remote, the video jumps to chapter 7, but again the readout says '1'...I am following the Sefy guide or so it seems...

#2 how can you 'save' the chapter times in a file for a later date?

#3 how can I have the VCD start playing without an opening scene or menu (in 'interactivity' where it asks how long to hold the opening scene or menu)

#3 remote function/interactivity (the tricky one!)..
How do I make 'previous' go to the beginning of the chapter currently playing?

#4 How do I stop this VCD madness?

#5 Does anyone have a link to another guide out there besides Sefy?

    Thanks

That's not how (s)VCD chapters work. The other major shortcomming can de demonstrated by selecting a chaper and then waiting till you are in the next chapter THEN hitting the next cpater butting, you actually jump back.

Select the text area and copy the text into another text file. You can later paste the timecodes back into the textbox and it does the "Right thing"tm. I have been using excel to store large numbers of chapter points. I store the information as frame values and then just cut+past the calcualted time codes into VCDeasy.

Either dont put a menu on the disk and them the movie will be the first item ergo the first thing played or move the menu down on the list so that it's at the end.

VCDeasy 1.1.2 not has a simplified ItSelf interactivity item. Assign the previous button to ItSelf. This has the limitation described above, it will go to the begining of the last chapter SELECTED.

#4 How do I stop this VCD madness?
I don't -twitch- have any -twitch -twitch- idea what -twich- you are taking about.

Have you checked the VCDeasy or VCDiamger sites?

  3. Ok, then do you have any suggestion as to how to use VCDeasy (just checked their FAQ) to get the numbers to change on the front of the LED panel? Almost like listening to a live concert on an audioCD and when the next song comes on, there is no break from one track to the next...

Here's what I am doing..taking a family video from DV, converting it to VCD, I want to make "7" be when the candles are blown out after the version of "Happy Birthday" that make the dogs in the neighborhood howl.

PS I was under the assumption that on a DVD, 'chapters' are scene selections that you can jump too. What is the proper terminology for what I am trying to do?

    Thanks

The only way to get "Chapters" as you are saying is to use tracks, but tracks don't go seamlessly between them ( on most players ).

So basicly you can't get chapers like DVD, you can get close, but I don't know if that's what you are looking for.
