    Just installed my replacement ATI-TV Wonder VE card which went without a hitch using the bundled drivers. All devices are posted correctly in the WinMe device mgr. but a separate problem has come up.

    Virtual Dub does not detect a 'capture device' but two other apps I have DO recognize the device but on VCR 'capture' there is no visible video or audio on the 'live' vhs monitor although the 'record' button DOES produce a frame capture progression. Just no visible monitoring picture.

    Checked and double-checked all the socket connections and everything seems to be snug and in place. Started up my old Dazzle 80 device to confirm the VCR was putting out a picture and it was displayed.

    Anyone else run into this problem?

    For the 10 thousandth time, VDUB is a VFW driver oriented app.
    The ATWVE is a WDM driver oriented app, and as such, cannot work, hence
    vdub does not recignise it.

    Now, you CAN use the ATWVE card as long as you use the WDM~VFW
    wrapper - available just about everywhere - try www.Google.com wrapper.zip
    and see if you can find it.
    There are bugs/issues w/ this, as some/most have claimed that you can't
    go above 320x240 or 352x240 or x240
    I AM able to go as high as 720x480 (but w/out the rapper, using a modified
    YUV driver) but THAT is just TOO complicated for any begginers, and I
    wouldn't put anyone through this. It's a lot of work! So, don't ask. Besides,
    I don't really use it, except for when I play around w/ my ATIRFP (rage fury
    pro) card because it's it's a WDM type card, and since I already have the
    ATW (tv wonder) I can't installed TWO VFW drivers for two cards by this
    same manufacturer w/out crashes, or complex issues. It just don't work.
    So, I have VFW on my ATW, and WDM on my ATIRFP, AND I can capture
    to 720x480 w/ both cards using either AVI_IO or VDUB, though VDUB has
    a few glitches, but still works w/ bypassing.

    You Dazzle 80 recignises it because its WDM ready, and see's the ATWVE

    Anyways, just do a search on www.google.com for "wrapper.zip" and you're
    bound to find many hits, AND the file to d/l, name:
    * vfwwdm.inf
    * vfwwdm32.dll
    * vfwwdm.drv
    1, right-click the *.inf file
    2, when asked, give the name of the location you saved these 3 files
    and all will be installed. That's it.

    Am advised V-Dub is a VFW oriented app while ATI-TV Wonder VE is a WDM oriented app and thus is not compatible without the WDM/VFW 'wrapper. But I already have the following drivers installed:

    c:\windows\system\
    VFWWDM32.DLL
    VFWWDM.DRV
    VFW.DRV
    WDMAUD.DRV
    WDMMDMLD.VXD
    MSVFW32.DLL

    c:\windows\system32\
    MSVFW32.DLL
    VFWWDM32.DLL
    WDMFS.SYS
    WDMAUD.SYS

    Is this the proper setup or are there some possible conflicts here? Am I missing some drivers?

    If I keep the ATI-TV Wonder VE card as my primary 'capture' device, I'll have to revert back to Easy CD Creator Platinum or MGI VideoWave for my capturing and authoring.

    Yet the VHS video preview is not visible on either device. Device drivers are DRIVING ME NUTS!!!

    Google did not produce the suggested 'wrapper.zip' program needed to wrap VFW to WDM. In fact, it only returned medical and chemical sites, for whatever that's worth.

    Anyone know of another site I might find the drivers at?

    Thank you.

    Sourceforge has a universal bt8xx wdm/vfw driver that, I believe, should work with your card.

    www.sourceforge.net

    I believe it called btwincap
