How to burn SVCDS with nero 5.5

Is there a way to burn SVCD's with nero burning rom 5.5 without buying anything because i have encoded the video i want to burn to mpeg2 but when i drag over it says it is incompatible and offers to convert it to mpeg1 to burn to a vcd what should i do? thanks in advance,

when nero ask how you want to continue. select "turn off standard compliance and continue". note that i have the svcd plugin(i dont use it) so it gives me the option to reencode a mpeg2.

you can also try clicking the mpeg2 folder-



and then drag and drop the file manually



then burn as normal. neat trick huh.

Now if the file is non-compliant you can try turning off compliancy, but there is no guarantee that it will playback properly if at all. Re-encoding may be your only other option then, but don't use Nero to do the encoding since it usually does a poor job of it even if you have the mpeg-2 plug-in installed.

even though nero says svcd you may need the svcd plugin.if you have that click on svcd then new in window drag mpeg2 to window .nero checks it .when ok .burn

I forgot to add when i have burnt a non complient disc it does not play on my standalone dvd player.only on pc.

Have you tried creating a compliant MPEG file and then using Nero. If the MPEG file you drop into Nero is an SVCD compliant MPEG it should work. It has worked for me before without the plugin. To be SVCD compliant it should be an MPEG-2 file:

Video: max 2524 kbit/sec MPEG-2 (if the audio is in 224 kbit/s), audio + video bitrate max bitrate is 2748 kbit/s.
480 x 480 pixels
29,97 frames/second
23,976 frames/second (NTSC Film)
with up to 4 Subtitles

Audio:
from 32 - 384 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2
with up to 2 Audio Tracks
