Prob burning with Nero 5.5.9.9

Hi,

As usual, I've made a backup of my DVD-movie (only the movie... keeping the original menu in DVD backup).
But for the first time I didn't include the VTS_01_1.VOB (it's too big and it's not needed by the movie).
In my documentation "how to backup DVD..." I found the following information :
" The DVD specification says, a DVD must have a title set 1.
So we will need to copy VTS_01_x.xxx too, even if it wasn't played, or it won't be playable in a standalone player. But it is enough to keep VTS_01_0.IFO/BUP/VOB.
You DON'T NEED the large VTS_01_x.VOB files. "

The movie plays fine on my computer (choice of chapters... subtitles and so on...).
Nevertheless, when trying to burn with Nero 5.5.9.9 (in DVD Video mode), he's warning me with the following message : "burning failed.... file VTS_01_1.VOB is missing !"

I don't want another application to burn my DVD's... till now Nero is the best choice for me... no problem of compatibility with standalone players !

I was just thinking about something : why not put an empty file named VTS_01_1.VOB ?
But I'm afraid... I'm using expensive DVD-R's !

Any idea ? ... please help !

Find a small VOB file on any one of your DVD's and you could rename it to VTS_01_1.VOB and use it.

I use empty VOB files to replace the original when not needed. You can use also small files if you want. No Problem.... The only problem is Nero. When the DVD was split or modified somehow, Nero refuses to create with those files a DVD-Video disc and most likely is gonna give you an error message like "DVD Video file reallocation failed..". DVD Video works for me only when burning single layer movies. The workaround is to create a DVD UDF/ISO Compilation instead. Then it works great...

P.S.: Until you can can find a strategy that works for you I strongly recommend to use DVD-RW's instead of DVD-R's to test your movies .....

Instead of using the DVD-Video button in the Nero program, I just use the DVD UDF/ISO and create the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS directories and then burn it. The DVD-Video setting will try to make sure that you have everything specific to DVD "standards", but really you don't need anything but the VTS_1_0.vob, ifo, & bup files. Do that and you should be all set. Don't however change any of the UDF settings. Some DVD players are picky, so the default used by Nero I have found works the best. Hope this helped you out!! By the way it has worked for me flawlessly, so you shouldn't have any problems.

Im having problems running DVD created using DVD (UDF/ISO) on Nero (i got version 5.5.9.9) it would run through my PC using PowerDVD automatically but it would not run on my setop DVD player (APEX 3201)..

I have created other DVD using (DVD Video) on Nero and it run perfectly on my setop player but since ive been getting the "Video files reallocation.." error i tried doing wut u guys have suggested as i found this thread and like u said it worked for u..

BTW ive never change any settings and been using Nero defaults its just it wouldnt run on my setop.. the movie that i wanna burn is Windtalkers
(d/l) and like i said the ones ive burn works fine on my PC so i dont think theres anything wrong with the movie itself and ive tried other movie burning using DVD (UDF/ISO) and it wouldnt run either but burning to normal DVD(Video) would work... I hope someone could help me on this... TIA

Hi..Ive tried messing around n re-naming VTS vob files and using other files from other films.

The results ?.

Welll...My Afreey LD2060 player plays them all fine, it seems it can forgive minor authoring errors but on other DVD players (like my PS2) you sometimes get wierd results like the DVD would stop halfway through or on my parents Phillips TV/DVD player it would jump entire chapters !
