Please Help with mini dv

I am having a major prolem, hoping some good soul out there can help me out. Bare with me I am a little new to this whole ripping thing.

I am using MovieShaker, made by sony to capture my mini dv footage. My end result of this footage should be in svcd Format. First, There are the following export formats:

MPEG1 320x240 30fps
DV-AVI 720x480 29.97fps
Mpeg2 (8mbps-High Quality) 720x480 29.97fps
Mpeg2 (4mbps-standard) 720x480 29.97fps

My current attempt.

Exporting in Mpeg1:
I have converted using TMPG to mpeg2 and burned in Nero as a svcd. Looks nice on computer but when played on my dvd player the picture is choppy. Which leads me to beleive that my dvd player will not play svcd disks. When played on computer the screen size is small and when it is maximized the picture distorts. My question is how do I Record in SVCD so that when it is played on a svcd dvd player, the picture will great no matter how big the TV's screen size?

MPEG2 Format:

When I try to burn these formats, they are converted to a smaller screen size in nero. I dont know what to use this format for.

If I am going to burn to DVD what format should I burn in? What kind of Burner should I purchase.

hi i also have a mini dv and i have a sony vaio and i capture. i never capture with movieshaker because of poor results but it can be done , its much easier to capture with windows movie maker and edit etc from there
if you must use movie shaker then defrag restart and cap in dv avi. that can be burned straight t5o dvd by the way. then use tmp to encode. dv avi having the best resolution so your encodes should come out better. as a rule i capture in the highest res possible and go down with it rather than vice versa.
pioneer a104 is probably the cheapes and easist to use right now, i love it!
i capture with win movie maker in dv avi edit and drag over to my easy dvd creator(came with burner) and burn. email if you have ?????'s its in my profile

I tried to contact you via email but is was bounced back. I dont think I can use windows movie maker in windows 2000. Also if I use sony shaker and export in dv avi, how do I burn to svcd?
