This may or may not be a newbie question... I have been ripping dvd to vcd for about a year and pretty much know my way around the conversion and this site, but here is my questions hopefully someone can answer:

I have two computer setups to do ripping:

Comp1: P-4 2.2 ghz, 512k ram, Win2000
Comp2: AMD XP2100+, 512k ram, WinXP Pro

I use on both: cladDVD, DVD2AVI, TMPGenc, VCDEasy, Nero

When Comp1 does the entire conversion is goes very smooth but when played in my Apex 5131 and I chapter ahead toward the end of the movie, it shutters and screeches. The media is Digital Media from Circuit City. On the same disk in my Sony (which is by far pickier, it is perfect).

When Comp2 does the same conversion (faster then the P-4) on the same cd media, it is fine on both Apex and Sony.

Both settings are the default vcd ntsc template and both are identical versions of the software. I write at the same speed (either 4X or 8X) too. Any thoughts?

First I thought it was the Apex messing up, then thought it was the cdrs but they all play perfect in the Sony. I am at a complete loss. I might add that the cdr drives are: Comp1 (whever Dell Dimensions 8200's come with 24X) and Comp2 is a Lite-On 40X. I don't think it should matter but more info is better than not enough.
