  1. Hi:

I know this is a common issue in this forums. Anyway, I have an ATI AIW 128pro with MMC 7.1

My question is: I have installed the ATI DVD player, so, does this DVD player have a MPG2 Codec? If yes, Does this MPG2 Codec works with TMPGEnc to open mpg2 files? If not, Which software I need to have an MPG2 codec that works in TMPGEnc?(I know PowerDVD but what about the other two)

I installed the MPG2 plugin for TMPGEnc from the tools page, however, it does not allow me open the mpg file as the audio file. What can I do?

Thanks for your help with this matter.

I'm a newbie myself, but to the best of my knowledge, MMC does not play MPEG2 movies.

I think this because anytime I try to play a movie I just converted from AVI to MPEG2, it opens by default in MMC and plays the audio, but no video.

Hope this helps, and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong...

If your using TMPGEnc 2.58 Plus, then there are only 3 Mpeg 2 codec's that will work with it, and yours is not one of them

    CyberLink, Ligos and, Sony

You need to install Power DVD 4, and it provides the correct codec.

If you use an older version of TMPGEnc 2.55 free, then other codec's will work with it for 30 days

  5. Hi:

Cradix: I had the same problem with MMC and MPG2 files. However, it was strange, since sometimes MMC allowed you to see MPG2 (even Vob files) and sometimes it only played the audio but no video.

I fixed that when reinstalled MMC 7.1 Also, after changing it to MMC 7.2 the problem never return.

I am still looking for MMC 7.5

I have a earlier version of TMPGEnc, So after your first 30 days are over you will get new 30 days for MPG2 due to the other MPG2 codec you have (in my case the ATI). Does this happen automatically?
