I've recently begun doing DFV editing. I'm using my firewire card to capture DV video from my cam and using Vegas Video 3 to edit and encode it to DVD or DV format.
My immediate concern is that the rendering process takes a LONG time when any effects are applied to the editted video. My machine specs are Win2000, Athlon XP 2200+, 1 gig of RAM.
For example, I have a simple video clip, with no transitions or anything, but I did apply a glow effect filter across the entire 1 minute clip of video. When I render it out to DV or DVD format (or any format for that matter), it takes about 45 minutes to render the 1 minute of video!! I noticed if I remove the brightness/contrast filter that it takes only a few minutes. I guess the video effects just take time to render ?? Some effects are faster than others I've noticed.
Has any noticed a signficant different in rendering time for video effects between the different programs (premiere, vv3, mediastudio, etc.)??
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

no they all take a long time unless you can render in hardware like what i have .. then its real time ... including preview..
it takes longer on a compressed file though like what you have compared to uncompressed .. ...
