They have several portable cd players that play mp3's and vcd's... some with id3 tag support some not,, most with remote controls..

most are under $100 usd,, but they have one, made by a company called "AVEX" that says the player can play vcd's svcd's and mp3 disks...
I even called the retailer to check and the guy who answered said it can indeed play svcd's...

That particular player is only $127.00 I was in the market to get an mp3 player to interface in my car, but to have a player that can play SVCD's and VCD's is a BIG plus!!..

I just wanted to see what others have said about this... I did see a post somebody said about the "NAPA" player, and this is one that this retailer sells, but it only has vcd capability and not svcd.

Also, if you goto http://www.electronicsboutique.com , they sell a little 5 inch screen that is designed to hook into the PSONE game console, but has inputs for video...and it is only $149.00... I could see me getting and mp3/svcd/vcd player for my car, mainly to play mp3's, but also, getting the little portable screen, and hook the player's video out into that, and the players' audio out into my pioneer radio.. would be great for trips, and taking the kids out... much smaller than my current 9inch portable tv/vcd combo...

    any other thoughts?
    Thanks.

I just received today an Avex DM-5 player from mp3playerstore.com. I'm sorry to report it did not play my standard SVCD I brought along with me to work. I bought it specifically for this purpose, so I'm a little disppointed. The person on their telephone line also told me it plays SVCD.

I'm not going to return it, though. Their level of customer service is excellent, and they were very helpful each of the ten or eleven times I called! (My shipment was delayed because they were out of stock.) They even gave me a couple extra batteries to make up for my long wait.

I'll post a more complete review of this product later. You can't find it on their home page anymore, but it may be available on other websites around the net. I did notice it autoplayed my standard VCD.
