Which is better, quality wise for encoding? Cinema Craft Encoder or TMPGenc?
I've heard that CCE is much faster. Is this true? I'm not interested in the MPEG-1 performance, only the MPEG-2.

CCE is more than twice as fast as TMPGenc, that much cannot be disputed. Personally I think its mpeg2 quality is better than TMPGenc but I still use both encoders depending on what I'm doing.

i think you can get equal quality from both most of the time but really depends n the type of encoding you are doing .. for some work tmpgenc is far better (targa files frame serving and high def - plus tmpgenc can do high level and high bit rate mpegs) .. tmpgenc is better on files i have made from sdi and componet captures .. cce does a better job on svideo and composite ... cce has min. user controls but is highly optimized for certain types of video streams it is apparent..
cce is faster for sure but tmpgenc is pretty fast on multi cpu systems (cce is still faster) ...
i also have doing a lot of plying around with main concepts encoder -- though still have some bugs and seems to have a problem remembering settings , it can produce excellent quality and is extremly fast (faster than cce on some settings) .. main concept company support is first rate also..
in the stand alone MC encoder - there is a huge wealth of settings that can be changed ...
