I've been capturing with Dazzle and my videos seem fine until I go to edit them, then the audio and video get out of synch. I thought this was an editing problem but, upon further research, it seems this is a capturing problem. From what I've gathered, I'm getting "dropped frames" that don't show up until I edit the video. Here's some advice I got for trying to eliminate dropped frames:

1) Run > MSCONFIG > Choose Selective startup and Uncheck > Process Config.sys file, Process Autoexec.bat file, Load startup group items (this will free up a lot of resources and you can always go back and select them after).

2) Disable your Background picture; Right Click on Desktop > Properties > Background > Select none

3) Capture in 640 x 480, or 800 x 600; Right click on Desktop > Properties > Settings > Adjust Slider Bar

4) Many computers have UDMA drives but Windows is NOT recognizing your drive unless you set it. Here's how: Right click My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > Expand Disk Drives > Highlight your C Drive > Properties > Settings > Check DMA > OK > Reboot. (This will enable your Hard Drive to work faster to keep up with the Video card).

Does anybody know how to do #1 in windows 2000? If this doesn't work and I'm still getting a lot of dropped frames, is there a program that will fix the problem in the video before I go to edit? Lastly, someone mentioned capturing in avi, then editing, then converting to mpeg-2. This seems like a lot of work but if it is the best way to go I'll do it. So, how does one go about capturing in avi? Dazzle doesn't seem to support it.
